I traded mountains for ocean, bagels for donuts, pizza for BBQ and high taxes for well, high taxes.
New York is beautiful. Growing up in the Hudson Valley, I didn’t really appreciate the beauty around me: from wineries, to small farms, to local businesses that specialize in anything imaginable. Then, Rochester with its local neighborhoods like Park, Monroe, and the Southwedge. (Sidenote: Try a Garbage plate it will change your life, and your waistline). Lastly on my tour of NY, Albany. This is where I became restless. I noticed that I had become bored. I was in a rut, so I decided to move south.
Virginia is for lovers or at least I am hoping. A couple of months ago and I decided to make the 9 hour drive to Hampton Roads. I found that I immediate fell in love. Yes, the mountains of the Northeast are beautiful and I do miss them but I found that the beach was a great alternative. Hampton Roads has the local businesses, wineries, breweries, and local neighborhoods that I am accustom to. I also don’t have to use a snow shovel very often which is a plus! You can get anywhere within 45 minutes: beach, farms, nightlife, outdoor adventures, etc and with cheaper gas!
The Tide was started for two reasons. 1. I need to remember. I don’t know how many times I have gone places or seen things and forgot where or when or even why. I wanted to have a place to share my thoughts, my opinions and remember where the HECK I’ve been! 2. I wanted to have a place where people can go to find what to do, where to eat, or what to buy. I want to experience new things and meet new people and want to help others do the same.
