Charleston is definitely not overrated. It in fact was awarded worlds Best City by Travel + Leisure; I would have to agree. But before we slid our gear in park in this Beautiful city we made a stop at Angel Oak on Johns Island, SC. I could not get enough of this place. The Tree itself is said to be between 400-500 years old! Here are some pictures of this awesome tree (I may have 100 more on my camera):
Being from the Northeast, I always wanted to experience charm of the historical cities of the South. First on the List was Savannah, GA. Savannah is the oldest City in Georgia being established in 1733. Savannah’s historic district is a grid system and has a total of 24 squares making it easy to navigate the city by foot. You can find a Self Guided Tour book here. I bought a Historic District Map here. Along the Savannah River is River Street, an old brick street where open container laws do not apply. You can also get great views of the container ships passing under the Talmadge Memorial Bridge.
God I love a good hot dog! (that may have come out wrong but I don’t care)
When you crave a hotdog in Hampton Roads you have to go to The Barking Dog located in downtown Hampton. It’s one of those places that don’t need a website; it’s just word of mouth. No frills but really good. That’s the kind of place I like and it’s exactly what I got.
